Marketing software maker Airship promoted senior leader Virginia Llewellyn to chief legal and administrative officer.

Llewellyn joined Airship in 2020 as senior vice president and general counsel. In this new role she will oversee global legal and compliance, corporate governance and the company’s expanded human resources organization.

Airship was an early player in mobile push notification technology. The company has since expanded that foundation to a suite of software that helps customers send messages to consumers on mobile devices across channels. This includes text message, push notifications, email, mobile wallets and in-app messaging.

The company must contend with changing and growing privacy and other compliance globally, which makes this role notable.

“Virginia’s leadership and her team’s expertise have enabled us to help global brands understand that data privacy compliance and customer experience don’t have to be at opposite ends of the spectrum,” said Brett Caine, Airship CEO in a written statement. “In fact, simple privacy principles can be the key to building enduring customer relationships, especially on mobile apps where the exchange of value between consumers and brands is the most trusted, respected and rewarded.”

Prior to Airship Llewellyn was general counsel for the consumer and lifestyle brand Goop. She has a more than 20-year career in legal, compliance and human resources.

“I’m particularly thrilled to partner with Erin Reeves, Airship’s VP of Human Resources, to focus even more on growing and supporting all Airshippers around the world,” she said in a written statement.

The company is hiring globally. It has dozens of roles across customer success, sales and engineering.
