The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh and the Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania are set to host a free panel discussion on women's entrepreneurship in Japan and the United States.

"Innovation and Women’s Entrepreneurship in Japan and the U.S." is set to take place on March 23 in the Mellon Board Room at Chatham University. The one-hour discussion will explore the unique challenges and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs, global versus local business and investment trends in both countries.

Organizers said the event will also feature a display by local ceramicist and small business owner, Reiko Yamamoto.

Doors to the event will open at 5 p.m. so attendees can view Yamamoto's work and enjoy complimentary refreshments before the panel discussion commences at 6 p.m. The speakers at the event include Asako Uchiyama of Celaid Therapeutics, Kay Shimizu of the University of Pittsburgh, Jessy LeClair of Cambridge Innovation Center and Annia Aleman of Ascender.

The Japan Currents program, supported by the National Association of Japan-America Societies and the Embassy of Japan, will be sponsoring the event.
