The business world is increasingly adopting cloud computing services, but not every form of technology can be easily adapted to the cloud. Since February of 2023, Canonsburg-based simulation company Ansys has been working with Microsoft to deploy its services on Microsoft's Azure cloud-platform, and the companies are now launching that service tomorrow.
"As computer-aided engineering moves farther into cloud computing, it is crucial that Ansys customers have the right tools to not only keep pace with this transition, but thrive in this new era," Ansys senior vice president of product Shane Emswiler said in a prepared statement.
Ansys Access will be available through the Azure Marketplace and will support a list of preconfigured Ansys applications optimized for high performance computing on Azure infrastructure. There are several challenges with launching simulation technology on the cloud, including work to deploy and test virtual machines and configuring the infrastructure in a cost-effective manner. Ansys and Microsoft designed Ansys Access with these issues in mind.
"With Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, IT managers can use existing or new services and licenses in one place, keeping deployment costs low," Emswiler said in a prepared statement. "This reduction in administrative and financial obligations opens the door for increased productivity and ultimately, more innovation."
Scalability and ease of implementation were also priorities.
"The collaboration not only simplifies implementation for IT departments but also empowers engineers to unlock the advantages of high-performance Microsoft Azure virtual machines, enhancing engineering and IT workflows," Microsoft manufacturing and mobility corporate vice president Dominik Wee said in a prepared statement. "As cloud computing gains traction across industries, Ansys Access on Azure makes it easier for organizations to scale simulations and accelerate product innovation."
