Santa Claus is coming to town, and Pittsburgh technology is helping to track the white-bearded man's journey around the world on Dec. 24.
Analytical Graphics Inc., a Philadelphia-based sister company to Pittsburgh-based Ansys Inc. (NASDAQ: ANSS), announced it will continue its collaboration with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Operations Center as part of the military unit's annual Santa Tracker experience.
According to an AGI release, the two companies will use simulation tools and digital engineering software as part of an effort to improve the experience for those looking to see Mr. Claus' journey from the North Pole to homes across the globe. Ansys compiled a series of video playlists on its website chronicling all of the new features and enhancements that are added this year, including an emphasis on how the technology will make the annual trip more sustainable.
"At Santa’s Workshop, sustainability is a top priority," Ansys said on the site. "Simulation helps Mrs. Claus understand the toy workshop’s environmental impact, lower noise pollution, and even track the best path for Santa’s sleigh so he avoids space debris."
