Apple Inc. (NYSE:AAPL) has picked Canonsburg-based Ansys Inc. (NYSE:ANSS) for the development of a new streamlined certification process for developers who are looking to make products using Apple's MagSafe magnetic charging technology.

More specifically, Ansys's cloud-based solution aims to reduce costs for MagSafe developers by eliminating the need for physical prototypes or the need to use radio frequency safety certification software when creating MagSafe-equipped devices. According to Ansys, these tasks can now be completed using simulation software designed for developers in Apple's Made For iPhone (MFi) program. That also means developers will be able to have their products launched faster, Ansys said.

"This is a scalable, cloud-based solution that leverages Ansys' gold-standard (High Frequency Simulation Software) electromagnetic solver to support developers with streamlined certification for (Specific Absorption Rate), peak average e-file and magnetic field distribution," said Shane Emswiler, senior vice president of products at Ansys, in a press release. "The solution uses a simple, intuitive interface and automation to reduce complexity and speed results, delivering detailed feedback at every step of the process and standards-conforming, SAR-certified data reports for FCC and ICN submissions."

Ansys said its new simulation software is available to MagSafe module developers in Apple's MFi Program. MagSafe chargers use magnets to adhere a charger to a device like Apple's laptops and some of its newer iOS devices.
