Nine startups affiliated with Arizona State University will pitch their businesses to investors from Papago Golf Club's tee boxes as part of a funding event in October.

The Tee Up for Funding event, set for Oct. 1 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Papago Golf Club, features ASU-affiliated startups in various verticals, including software, medical devices, sustainability, cosmetics and electric vehicle charging.

The event consists of a nine-hole golf scramble in which each startup will have two minutes to pitch their businesses to a total of 48 investors during their tee off time. Investors will select the top three startups, which will present in-depth pitches during the event's post-game reception.

"We are very intentional about presenting a diverse range of investment opportunities,” Louise Hardman, director of ASU InvestU, said in a statement. “Whether you are looking to invest in a sector you know well or learn about emerging technologies in a new field, this event has something for everyone.”

ASU InvestU connects investors and startups to foster early-stage investment and product commercialization. Since 2019, ASU InvestU has facilitated nearly $6 million in early-stage deals, leading to more than $186 million in follow-on funding and creation of 420 jobs.

  • Aavia, a New York company that created a daily app that helps women track and understand how their hormones impact their life
