The Philadelphia Business Journal and PHL Inno will celebrate the 2024 Fire Awards honorees at an afternoon event Thursday at Yards Brewing in Philadelphia. As part of the event, SEI's head of new business ventures will join us for a one-on-one interview, providing insights into what she looks for when investing in startups.
Sneha Shah will join PHL Inno reporter Ryan Mulligan for a discussion to kick off the event. She was tapped by SEI as head of new business ventures last June, being the first to step into the newly created role. In that capacity, Shah has been tasked with leading new business and platform identification and incubation; engaging clients, accelerators, and entrepreneurs to invest in and accelerate new ideas; and cultivating innovation that drives top-line growth.

Prior to SEI, Shah was managing director and group head of the London Stock Exchange Group's business accelerator. She also was previously global head of risk managed services at Refinitiv and managing director in Africa for Thomson Reuters.
Originally from Kenya, Shah is looking for ways to commercialize ideas internally at SEI and externally. SEI also has its own venture studio, where it looks to invest in startups that will scale SEI's existing reach.
Shah will touch on what she looks for when backing a company and delve into industry trends.
Following the interview, the Business Journal and PHL Inno will present this year’s Fire Awards. The Fire Awards are PHL Inno’s premier awards program, showcasing the businesses, institutions and individuals driving the region’s innovation scene forward.
