Local startups have demonstrated resilience after a couple of tough years that saw the venture capital market stunted.

Despite difficulties fundraising, Greater Philadelphia’s startup ecosystem has continued to churn out success stories. Part of that success is driven by incubators, venture capital firms and other institutions that are putting startups in a position to rapidly grow.

Others are on the cutting edge of technology, artificial intelligence and life sciences, hauling in significant funding rounds.

Each year, the Business Journal and its technology and innovation vertical PHL Inno look to celebrate the most promising businesses and individuals driving success and innovation locally through the Fire Awards. Now in its third year, these are PHL Inno’s premiere awards.

This year we are recognizing a total of 15 companies and individuals across four categories. Companies span from growth-stage startups to local tech pillars. Honorees also include founders, CEOs, accelerators and venture capitalists.

In order to determine the honorees, we sought nominations from the public as well as suggestions from our editorial team.

We’ll celebrate these honorees in a special print edition of the Philadelphia Business Journal on Aug. 16 as well as at an event on Aug. 15 at Yards Brewing in Philadelphia. The event will include a one-on-one sit down with Sneha Shah, head of new business ventures at Oak-based financial technology firm SEI. After, the honorees will be presented with their awards.

In print and at the event, we’ll reveal this year’s blazers, those who are making big waves in the innovation ecosystem locally.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
