Pacific Business News' section for all things innovative, Pacific Inno, is now accepting applications for its first-annual startup bracket challenge.
Inno Madness is a new online competition meant to highlight up-and-coming, as well as more established, startups in Hawaii's business community. To participate in Inno Madness, simply nominate a local startup — this includes private companies in tech, agriculture, energy, and other innovative Hawaii industries — to enter the competition.
PBN's Inno team will then assemble brackets based on your nominations.
We’ll reveal the bracket online in March, and companies will go head-to-head for six rounds while readers vote to determine who moves on from each matchup. Every week, PBN will post the updated bracket and voting will begin again.
At the end of the competition, we’ll announce our annual Inno Madness winner.
Here's what we're looking for:
- Has the company raised any funding?
- In one sentence, why would you invest in this company (i.e., an interesting concept or product, social impact, long-term potential, etc.)?
- What else do you want to share about the company you are nominating?

Be sure to apply soon, as the nomination period for Inno Madness ends on Feb. 6.
