Investors from Australia, Brooklyn and elsewhere have pumped $15 million into a Nashville-based startup, according to an announcement from the company.

The company, Zerv Inc., is developing a smartphone app allowing "touchless access control" for commercial buildings, parking garages and other spaces. Zerv aims to replace fobs and magnetic key cards, though it can also link a mobile device to those existing security systems.

Zerv says it has more than 100 clients at present, and is used as places such as New York City's Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Station.

Cody Horchak, Zerv's 29-year-old CEO, moved the company's main office from Chicago to Nashville earlier this year. Horchak founded the company in 2018.

Funding for the $15 million Series A round came primarily from New York-based GreenPoint Partners and also Taronga Group, which has two offices in Australia and one in Singapore.

Correction/Clarification
