As it eyes global growth, Milwaukee-based green hydrogen startup Advanced Ionics has named two new top executives who have experience in the sustainable energy industry.
John Jung is the company's new president and chief operating officer, and Ignacio Bincaz is its new chief commercial officer, Advanced Ionics announced Tuesday.
The new executives will support the company's global growth, expand manufacturing capabilities and launch new pilot programs, Advanced Ionics said.
Advanced Ionics is developing technology to make climate-friendly industrial production more affordable. Its electrolyzers produce hydrogen — a key component of materials such as metal, glass and plastic — in a way it says is more sustainable and costs less than the current fossil fuel-derived hydrogen.
Jung previously was president of California-based Energy Vault, a publicly traded company that develops sustainable, grid-scale energy storage solutions. He will be based in Milwaukee overseeing Advanced Ionics' business operations and growth.
Bincaz formerly was head of North America for the Israeli green hydrogen company H2Pro Ltd. and was a senior vice president at the Australia-based sustainable energy and engineering consultancy Worley Inc. He will be based in Houston, leading Advanced Ionics' commercial strategy.
Advanced Ionics was founded in 2017 by Chad Mason, who is the company's CEO. It was among Wisconsin Inno's startups to watch for 2023. Earlier this year, it raised $12.5 million in Series A financing.
