A startup that makes safety gear for women, a software company focusing on digital management systems for heavy civil construction companies, and a startup that delivers personalized medicine to consumers, are among the 12 companies that will pitch at this week’s Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest.
The competition, which is being done virtually this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, is part of the Wisconsin Technology Council’s annual Entrepreneurship Conference.
The companies were selected from a pool of more than 200 entries and will be scored by a panel of about 90 judges. Entries were submitted in four categories: Advanced manufacturing, business services, information technology and life sciences.
The winners will receive cash, office space, legal assistance, accounting, information technology consulting and marketing services. GrowthChart Records, a Stoughton-based company that developed a voice assistant platform for record-keeping at child care centers, won last year's competition.
The 12 companies competing this year include:
- Advanced Ionics, Milwaukee: developing hydrogen production system for industrial consumers
- Agent Plus Solutions, New Berlin: a nanotechnology company providing household and commercial cleaning
- eCourt Reporters, Burlington: created a a two-sided marketplace that connects law firms, government entities, and court reporting agencies to court reporters and legal videographers.
- IVO Systems, Madison: Created software software for construction companies to better manage and track their operations and equipment;
- Last Lock, Milwaukee: maker of a self-powered smart lock cylinder
- Media Driven Advertising, Madison: makers of a media-driven live event ad and monitoring program
- ModuTree, Milwaukee: developed a modular tile-based hunting blind system
- MyGenomeRX, Wisconsin Dells: Developed an online portal that identifies potential gene-drug interactions
- OncoGone, Potomac, Maryland/Madison: maker of a hydrogel implant that delivers a combination chemotherapy for treating brain cancers
- Plumb Pharmaceuticals, Madison: developed a platform technology for extended-release medications for opioid addiction
- Safety4her, Milwaukee: company makes high visibility reflective safety wear for women
- Steady Shot, MIlwaukee: maker of an OTC needle stabilizer that makes injecting insulin easier.
