Just one Wisconsin company was named to this year's Technology Fast 500 ranking by Deloitte, but Exact Sciences Corp.'s string of making the list has come to an end.

The 29th annual list ranks the fastest-growing North American companies in tech, media, telecommunications and life sciences. The rapidly growing Madison-based life sciences firm Exact Sciences (Nasdaq: EXAS), maker of the Cologuard take-home colon cancer test, had made every list since 2016, many times as the only Wisconsin representative in the ranks.

Deloitte, the international professional services firm with headquarters in London, forms the rankings based on the percentage of revenue growth from 2019 to 2022. The list features companies both large and small, public and private.

This year, Salute Mission Critical, a global data center services firm based in Franklin, was the only Wisconsin company on the list. It ranked 449th with revenue growth of 270%, according to Deloitte.

Exact Sciences was the only Wisconsin company among the Fast 500 in 2022 and 2021. Three state companies made the list in 2020.

Some 85% of the companies listed nationally were backed by venture capital or private equity funding at some point in their history. The overall median growth rate of companies selected was 497%, with life sciences seeing the highest median revenue growth rate at 665%.

California had the most Fast 500 winners, particularly in the Bay Area. The New York City Tri-State Area followed up with the second-most awardees. For the second straight year, San Francisco life sciences firm Vir Biotechnology Inc. led the list. Deloitte reported Vir's 2023 revenue growth was 222,189%.
