Virtual pediatric and adolescent therapy provider DotCom Therapy of Madison has named Omar Dawood as its CEO, according to a Monday announcement.

DotCom Therapy founder and president Rachel Mack Robinson previously was serving as the company's interim CEO. Prior to that, the company's CEO was Darcey Nett.

Dawood is a doctor of medicine and also has master's degrees in public health and business administration. He previously held executive leadership roles at three different San Francisco-based digital mental health care companies — BetterUp, Calm and Ginger. He's also a survivor of stage-four cancer.

Founded in 2015, DotCom Therapy partners with schools and employers to provide online mental health therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. The company employs a national network of therapists.

With Dawood on board, DotCom Therapy intends to expand its mental health services and spread its reach to more schools, employers and health care providers, the announcement said. The company currently works with more than 170 school districts, Dawood said in a statement.

DotCom Therapy is approved to accept Medicaid in Wisconsin, according to an August 2022 announcement by the company.

In June 2022, DotCom Therapy announced that it acquired Wolf+Friends, an online community for parents with children that have special needs such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder and mental health challenges.

DotCom Therapy is backed by $13 million in venture capital financing from investors including New Capital Partners in Birmingham, Alabama; LRVHealth in Boston; and OSF Ventures in Peoria, Illinois. It also received seed funding from HealthX Ventures in Madison.
