Wisconsin startup accelerator Gener8tor and Georgia-Pacific, a major manufacturer of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging, building products and related chemicals, are partnering on a new accelerator program that will be operated from the Atlanta-based company's consumer products R&D center in Neenah.

Georgia-Pacific's site in Neenah, located in Winnebago County, is used by more than 250 scientists, engineers and technicians

1915 Studios, the name of the accelerator, is designed for early-stage companies focused on hygiene, internet of things technology and sensory technology. The program will operate in 12-week cohorts of five companies and help startups with prototyping, market research and business strategy. Companies will also receive co-working space inside the R&D center.

The first cohort will start this summer, and a second cohort is planned for the fall.

“We believe working closely with startups to aid in developing their businesses can result in significant mutual benefit for all involved,” said Darin Driessen, director of R&D Open Innovation at Georgia-Pacific and managing director of 1915 Studios. “Bringing together the new ideas and approaches of startups and the proven go-to-market capabilities at our Neenah R&D center will create a powerful innovation environment.”
