Wisconsin Investment Partners in Madison, or WIP, an investment network of more than 110 angel investors, is buying equity in a company that is using eye scanning technology to test for neurological diseases.
C. Light Technologies, which is relocating its corporate office from Berkeley, California, to Boston this month, recently raised $2.5 million in seed funding that included other investors like Creative Venture, Yamaha Motor Ventures, Berkeley Skydeck Fund, Band of Angels, EGB Capital, Monde Green Ventures, Puck Ventures and the Vectors Angel Group.
WIP has invested $44 million in 82 companies over the last two decades. The network also has participated in 288 investment rounds.
C. Light Technologies has raised $3.25 million to date, which includes over $475,000 in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health. The new funding will be applied toward improving its existing neural network analytics to predict multiple sclerosis disease progression, as well as to advance the development of their retinal eye tracking device, the company stated in a news release.
“We are on the verge of major breakthroughs in the neurodegenerative space, and it could not have come at a better time. Worldwide, millions of people suffer from neurodegenerative health conditions, including MS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s,” said Christy Sheehy, co-founder and CEO of C. Light Technologies.
Wisconsin-based companies in WIP's portfolio include Agricycle in Milwaukee, Curate Solutions in Madison, Fetch Rewards, also in Madison, and SHINE Medical Technologies in Janesville.
