Houston-based Cart.com, a fast-growing startup in the e-commerce space, recently announced hiring two new officers to its executive suite.

Cart.com hired Sara Patterson as its chief people officer, the company said Oct. 14. Patterson, who boasts nearly three decades of experience in human resources, leads Cart.com's efforts in talent acquisition and employee experience. Previously, Steve Donnelly served as Cart.com's chief people officer, but his LinkedIn profile now lists him as senior vice president of Talent. The Houston Business Journal has reached out for more information.

Patterson most recently served as chief people officer for New York-based insurance startup Lemonade Inc. (NYSE: LMND). Patterson previously worked as chief people officer for direct-to-consumer brand Bonobos, which was acquired by Walmart (NYSE: WMT) for $310 million. Patterson worked as vice president of human resources and head of talent management for Walmart eCommerce, where she led talent management for 15,000 employees.

As Cart.com's chief people officer, Patterson is tasked with developing a talent acquisition strategy to support the e-commerce company's rapid growth. Cart.com has made seven acquisitions since launching in November 2020. The firm has also raised more than $140 million since launching, including a $98 million Series B funding round announced in August.

"People are the key to success for any growing company, and I'm thrilled to be joining one of the fastest-growing and most transformative companies in the e-commerce space," Patterson said.

In mid-September, Cart.com said it hired Randy Ray as the firm's first chief revenue officer. Ray oversees sales growth across Cart.com's entire portfolio of e-commerce services and software tools. Ray was formerly senior vice president at Minneapolis-based supply chain management company HighJump, now called Körber, and global vice president of sales at New York-based enterprise software firm Infor. He also spent nine years with Oracle Corp. (NYSE: ORCL), now based in Austin, rising to lead sales efforts across North America, Cart.com said.

"I’m a firm believer in the Cart.com mission to drive success for online brands, and I’m looking forward to tripling our sales organization and building out a world-class revenue infrastructure as we take the company global over the next six to nine months," Ray said.

Cart.com develops a suite of products to assist companies with scaling their digital presences, including offerings for online storefronts, payment processing, digital marketing, order fulfillment and more. Cart.com CEO Omair Tariq previously was COO of Houston-based Blinds.com, which was acquired by The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) in 2014. Jim Jacobsen, co-founder and executive chairman at Cart.com, previously served as CEO of Cypress-based outdoors retailer Rtic Outdoors.

In late September, Cart.com announced expanded financial offerings on its platform for e-commerce clients. Cart.com partnered with fintech firm Clearco, which provides equity-free capital financing products to early-stage companies. Through the partnership, Cart.com clients can access up to $10 million in Clearco financing through the Cart.com dashboard. Cart.com also offers other financial products, including a marketing credit program and other growth capital loans exclusive to Cart.com customers.
