Player Personnel: Colorado's top tech and startup hires in August

While Covid-19 has slowed hiring plans for many, the state’s top technology companies and startups are still bringing on crucial new personnel during this pandemic.

We track the major player personnel moves in our daily newsletter, the Beat. Below, we’ve listed the top Colorado technology and startup hires reported in August.

FullContact announced that it appointed current President Chris Harrison to succeed Bart Lorang as CEO. Additionally, Harrison has been appointed to the Board of Directors. Lorang founded FullContact, an identity resolution as a service startup, in 2010, and has held the position of CEO since the company’s inception. He will continue to serve on the Board, where he will be joined by Harrison.

Englewood's WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone, a broadband provider, announced the election of Gunjan Bhow, global chief digital officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance, to its board of directors. Prior to his role at Walgreens, Bhow held senior executive leadership positions at the Walt Disney Company and at Amazon, overseeing digital transformation of both companies' products and business models.

Former NFL player and entrepreneur Dhani Jones is joining the board of Boulder sports media startup Pocket Outdoor Media. Pocket is a growing media company providing content for active lifestyle enthusiasts. The company's Active Pass membership program, launched across its media brands, provides members with access to content, training plans and a variety of other perks.

Denver's GutCheck, a market research company, announced that Matt Warta has stepped down from his role as CEO of the company. In his place, Rob Wengel, who joined GutCheck’s board earlier this year, has been appointed as GutCheck’s new CEO. Prior to joining GutCheck, Wengel served in executive leadership roles with Kantar, BASES and Nielsen, specializing in insights, innovation and analytics.

Maxar Technologies, a global space technology company based in Westminster, announced that it has hired space industry veteran Jim McClelland to lead its newly established Mission Architecture function. McClelland most recently served as chief technology innovation officer at Airbus U.S., Space and Defense. He has also held positions as CTO of OneWeb Satellites, VP of mission engineering and operations for Millennium Space Systems.

Louisville, Colo.-based AMP Robotics, a startup developing AI robots for the recycling industry, has added several key leaders to continue its recent growth. Jeff Loebbaka has come aboard as AMP’s new chief commercial officer, Mike Krings has joined AMP as vice president of operations, Lisa James was named the company’s director of enterprise sales and Emilie Kintner will join AMP in late August to lead talent and culture.
