The future of work and tech

This episode of The Workforce Podcast is presented by Jones Lang LaSalle.

Tom Higley is the CEO and Founder of X Genesis and 10.10.10, organizations connecting serial entrepreneurs with large organizations and institutions to address wicked problems. X Genesis and 10.10.10 are built on the premise that entrepreneurial leaders, specifically those with prior founding experience, are one of the most important leverage points for society to create new market-based solutions that address and solve the world's most pressing issues.

Through these organizations, startup communities, and his mentoring of numerous founders and technology leaders; Tom conceptualizes his role as that of a composer and orchestra conductor.

"I think, in some ways, I am pretty bizarre. I will lead with the unexpected. I love to write and compose music, and I think, in a weird sort of way, that love of composing is what has taken me into creating new ventures. I almost see myself as a composer with other people, as the folks that are phenomenal musicians, that perform and play things that come alive that I have been thinking about, sometimes for years."

In this episode, Tom defines wicked problems, and he challenges entrepreneurs to pursue solving problems that also drive impact. Tom highlights how the future of work can be thought of through the "where of work" and how it shifted so suddenly during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In partnership with American Inno, Taylor McLemore, managing director of the Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator, is debuting a new podcast exploring the relationship of technology and work.

The Workforce Podcast explores the boundaries of education and the future of work to understand how and why people labor. The conversations search for an understanding of problems and opportunities in the workforce, enabling entrepreneurs and innovators to build a better future.

The podcast brings together a diverse group of people and perspectives: startup founders, investors, company executives, education influencers, government leaders and community innovators.
