Dallas-based tech firm Slync.io has appointed John Urban as CEO and chairman of its board, the company announced.

Urban has been with the tech firm since 2018 and previously served as a strategic advisor.

“John comes from the freight industry and shares our passion and focus on moving this industry into the future,” Stephanie Herminjard, COO at Slync.io, said in a news release. “We are thrilled to have someone of his caliber, with logistics and technology prowess, step up to lead the charge forward as our new CEO.”

Before joining Slync.io, Urban co-founded California-based software service GT Nexus in 2015.

“I am thrilled to join this dynamic team of seasoned technology and logistics executives in a much greater capacity,” Urban said in the release. “We are all truly committed to creating and delivering value for our clients. Slync’s orchestration platform is enabling unprecedented productivity gains today for some of the world’s largest logistics networks, and we’re just getting started.”

Slync.io was founded in 2017. The company’s platform connects various systems, orchestrates resources, ingests data and automates complex processes for global supply chain logistics networks.

In Sept. 2020, the tech firm announced it would move its headquarters from San Francisco to North Texas.
