From tech job openings to the local housing market, North Texas is about growth.

That’s also true when it comes to revenue. Looking at those figures over a three-year period, Inc.com has unveiled is ranking of the fastest-growing, privately held companies in the country, with 103 from the region making the cut.

“Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing,” said Scott Omelianuk, Inc. editor-in-chief, in a statement. “This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”

Eighty-seven of those companies were repeat honorees to the 2021 Inc. 5000 list. Last year, 158 local companies made the list.

The percentage of revenue growth increase for the more than 100 companies ranged from nearly 5,200%, a number posted by Arlington auto remarketing company Pomerenke Holdings (No. 73 overall), to 39% from Fort Worth manufacturer Ulrich Barn Builders (No. 4,995 overall). Companies needed a minimum revenue of $100,000 in 2017 and a minimum of $2 million in 2020.

The annual list gives the business world insight into brands nationwide, along with giving the companies selected for the Inc. 5000 a press and marketing opportunity.

Collectively, companies on the list from the North Texas region had a median growth rate of 146%, representing a total of $10.7 billion in revenue and more than 15,000 jobs created in the past three years. Comparatively, the median growth rate for the entire list was 543%, with a median revenue of $11.1 million reached and more than 600,000 jobs created.

Overall, the top-ranked companies were recruiting and staffing firm Human Bees (Lathrop, Calif.), primary and urgent care company Carbon Health (San Francisco) and insurance firm Upstream Life Insurance Company (Oxford, Miss.) – each reporting more than 35,000% revenue growth since 2017.
