Central Ohio's Coolest Offices: IT consulting firm Slalom's new space enters the arena

The voters will have to decide if it's the coolest, but Slalom's new Arena District space is likely to end up the newest office in our inaugural quest to find the region's coolest workplace.

The Seattle-based IT company moved its Columbus team into the space at 375 N Front St., Suite 325, in February. The 8,500-square-foot office space features pods where employees can take phone or Zoom calls, conference and meeting rooms with Columbus themes such as "the Brewery District" and "the Short North," and modular furniture to accommodate different meetings and varying group sizes.

The company offers a hybrid work policy, and employees spend about two-thirds of the time at home, not including when they're out at client sites. But the new office was designed with an eye toward maximizing the return on making the trek into the office.

"After working from home for so long, we've found that creativity really is helped by moving throughout the day," Slalom General Manager Channie Mize told Columbus Business First's Bonnie Meibers on a recent office tour, highlighting the ways the office's space and furniture can be used in different ways.

Here's a look at the office, which will face off with other entrants in a vote later this month:

About Slalom: The Seattle-based IT consulting company opened its Columbus office in 2020. Initially based out of a coworking space, the firm has grown from 19 local employees to 100. Founded in 1993, Slalom has been on a nationwide expansion kick. Its Central Ohio clients include Designer Brands Inc., for which it built a digital customer loyalty program, according to a white paper.

About the contest: Throughout the month of March, Columbus Inno will run slideshows of local offices, in the hunt for the region's coolest. At the end of the month, we'll hold a vote to determine our winner.

Want to participate? Email ekennedy@bizjournals.com. We'll need three to 10 photos of your office space, plus written confirmation that the copyright holder gives us permission to publish. Columbus Inno covers the region's most innovative companies. While that's largely technology startups, we recognize that other types of businesses can fall under that banner. If you think yours qualifies, and you want to be a part of the contest, please include a few sentences in your submission making clear how you fit within the Inno brand.

Is there a deadline? As noted, we'll be holding our vote at the end of March. Please submit your photos by March 20 in order to be included.
