A Cincinnati startup is expanding its advisory board with the addition of a Chicago-based doctor and epidemiologist.
IncludeHealth, which is developing digital platforms for training and musculoskeletal care, added Dr. Saif Rathore, head of data and analytics innovation for Evernorth, Cigna’s health services portfolio, to its medical advisory board effective Feb. 9, according to a news release. Rathore is the second person to join the board, which was formed in 2018.
IncludeHealth CEO and founder Ryan Eder said the addition helps expand the startup’s capabilities. Rathore previously served as medical director and associate partner at McKinsey and held a faculty position at the Yale School of Medicine. Rathore completed his Ph.D. in epidemiology and medical degrees from Yale University with training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, the release states.
“Dr. Rathore truly expands our capabilities to learn, grow and diversify how we think about our initiatives,” Eder said. “We continue to be diligent with our medical advisory board, and Rathore is an ideal fit.”
IncludeHealth’s medical advisory board, founded in 2018, is led by renowned neurosurgeon and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine professor Dr. John M. Tew. While a medical advisory board doesn’t have the same controlling rights or fiduciary responsibilities as a board of directors, Eder said it will work with the IncludeHealth team to broaden the medical applications and research aspects of the company’s digital platform.
IncludeHealth’s product portfolio includes IncludeStrength, an all-inclusive exercise machine; IncludeCloud, a medical-grade, HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure that allows users to develop online protocols for a workout; and IncludeConnect, a palm-sized sensor that attaches to exercise equipment to collect data in real-time.
IncludeHealth has around 20 employees in Cincinnati and Columbus and an innovation lab at the 1819 Innovation Hub in Avondale. The company was founded by Eder, a UC graduate, in 2012.
