Five local startups make up the third class of an accelerator program whose alumni have gone on to raise more than $3 million.

The seven-week gBETA Cincy program, which came to Cincinnati after the Brandery partnered with Wisconsin-based Gener8tor, recently kicked off its completely virtual 2020 cohort, according to a news release. Its current participants include a startup whose technology enables athletes to monetize their content for fans and student-led company that streamlines the process to buy used car parts.

More than 30 startups applied for the program, which has no fees and doesn't require equity. The current cohort is 60% minority- or female-led, the release states.

"This cohort truly represents the strength and persistence of startups in our community amidst this challenging year, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact that participation in gBETA will have on each of them," Kelly Bonnell, executive director of Main Street Ventures, said in a statement.

Main Street Ventures and mAccounting back the program, the release states.

Here's a breakdown of each startup:

  • Acumen helps athletes create and monetize content for fans, with key partnerships already in place with NBA legends Vernon Maxwell and Bram Weinstein.
  • AutoHive is a student-led startup from Miami University that connects car owners with people and auto shops selling used car parts.
  • Carefeed offers a HIPPA-secure platform to allow senior living communities to distribute information for their staff, residents and residents' families.
  • Confab allows consumers to shop online together and in real-time. The startup's Chrome extension launched in October.
  • Tokenism's commercial real estate investment platform uses blockchain technology to create a secure marketplace for transactions.

The program will culminate in a pitch night at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10. To learn more, click here.
