gBeta, the seven-week pre-accelerator program from Milwaukee-based gener8tor and Cincinnati's The Brandery, has announced the members of its inaugural cohort.

The fee-less, equity-less program includes five early-stage startups representing a host of industries. It looks to get participants early customer traction as well as foster strong metrics to allure future full-time accelerators or investors.

The Cincinnati-based program offically began May 3, with a graduation and demo day, dubbed LiveBETA, set for June 21.

"When we launched The Brandery in 2010, the accelerator landscape was very different,” said Rob McDonald in a previous, exclusive report on the program. “To continue to compete at a world class level, it is necessary to adapt and evolve. We’ve known the gener8tor team and the success they have had for quite some time and have shared similar philosophies on how to best assist startups. As a joint effort, we believe we have the opportunity to compete with the best-of-the-best accelerators.”

We've listed the five companies below, including the descriptions they provided for the initial statement.

  • Frayt: "Provides an on-demand peer-to-peer shipping service through an automated web and mobile platform."
  • The Home Team: "[Its] automated platform connects customers who need moving help with local labor. The Home Team provides the moving muscle, and customers provide the truck for small-medium sized moves. The Home Team is a Delaware LLC, currently servicing Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Columbus and Louisville."
  • Plantalytics: "Saves farmers up to 30 hours per week by simplifying digital record keeping for diversified and alternative farmers. ... Plantalytics’ CEO and founder Nikki Ridenour previously co-founded LISNR, which has raised $14 million in funding, and manages her own five-acre farm."
  • SaferSit:"[Its] on-demand platform safely connects families with student babysitters. Families book reliable, background-checked local babysitters within minutes."
  • Zimmr: "Zimmr’s platform allows enterprises to easily monitor and manage their data science applications in real time."
