A Chicago startup founded by a former engineer at growing logistics company ShipBob is helping companies like Bosch and housekeeping company Tidy test their online software for bugs before launch.
Preflight, founded in 2018 by Mustafa Bayramoglu, makes a platform for companies to test their web pages and functionalities in internet browsers. Preflight uses artificial intelligence to vet software across a range of internet browsers, including Google Chrome, FireFox and Internet Explorer.
The company can deliver automated end-to-end UI tests within minutes and analyze hundreds of data points to give developers a clear picture of how their software is performing in a given browser. By allowing companies to test web products in this manner, they are able to cut costs and time during the development process, catch and fix bugs, and ultimately deliver end users a better product.
“We help companies test their web functionalities,” Bayramoglu said. “We help people test their web page 10 times faster than actual engineers.”
The startup has raised $1.3 million to date, which Inno first reported in April. The round was co-led by Hyde Park Venture Partners and OCA Ventures, with participation from Grand Ventures, M25 and Y Combinator, a startup accelerator that Preflight participated in during 2019.
Before launching Preflight, Bayramoglu was the second engineer at Chicago logistics startup ShipBob, which is also a Preflight client.
Now Preflight has more than 1,000 clients and a team of five employees. With the financing Preflight has raised, Bayramoglu said the startup is supporting its growing server costs and adding more engineers and sales roles to the team.
