Cubs slugger Kris Bryant is among the new investors in a Miami startup that wants to help you get better sleep.
Eight Sleep, a startup founded in 2014 that sells a high-tech mattress that can regulate your temperature and give you data about how well you sleep, announced a slew of new high-profile backers Wednesday, including Bryant, former baseball player Alex Rodriguez and actor Kevin Hart. The round, the amount of which was not disclosed, also included Cruise Automation co-founder Kyle Vogt, Superhuman founder Rahul Vohra and Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam.
Eight Sleep makes a mattress that can regulate your temperature and analyze your heart respiratory rates, movement and sleep patterns. It collects data about how well you sleep, and can offer suggestions on how to to get a better night's rest. Led by husband and wife team Matteo and Alexandra Franceschetti, the startup's Pod Pro mattress retails for $3,000 and its high-tech mattress cover that can be placed over a normal mattress starts at $1,745.
If you don't have three grand to spend on a mattress, you can try out the startup's products at the Hyde Hotel in Miami, where it offers its Pod Pro mattress.
The startup has raised at least $76 million in funding from backers like Softbank, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator.
On Wednesday Rise Science, a Chicago startup that's also working on technology that helps you sleep better, raised $10 million in funding. Its app tracks users’ behavioral sleep data though wearable devices, along with how often you check your phone at night.
