Monday

General Assembly is hosting an event called How to Talk Tech Monday at the Nerdery. The event will teach those new to the tech scene about how to connect with the industry, and attendees will learn the day-to-day roles from a developer, designer and a product manager and how they work together. More info here.

Tuesday

IBM Watson is hosting an Internet of Things meetup Tuesday where the company will discuss how IBM's Watson IoT technology brings together elements of the real world like weather, buildings, automobiles, and machines to keep us connected. More info here.

1871 is hosting the 2016 Good Food Business Accelerator Application Celebration Tuesday for a discussion on how the Good Food Business Accelerator positively impacts the Midwest's food and farm entrepreneurs. The panel discussion will focus on how to increase the supply of local, sustainable food, and will include talks from GFBA mentors, advisors, and alumni. More info here.

Wednesday

The Chicago Loop Alliance is hosting its latest Downtown Futures Series Wednesday at 1871. Dubbed Experiential City, the event will examine how downtowns have evolved as places with unique experiences beyond commerce, and will look at the future experiences needed for a competitive downtown--and what this future looks like in Chicago. Speakers include Carol Coletta, Senior Fellow at The Kresge Foundation; Danielle Galmore, Director of New Business Development at Steelcase; and Seth Unger, Co-Creator of The Wabash Lights. Does your startup need an intern? An IMSA intern open house at 1871 is your chance to hire some of the city's best. The Illinois Math and Science Academy, the selective STEM-focused public high school whose alumni include YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, Yelp co-founder Russel Simmons, and former Match Group CEO Sam Yagan, will showcase interns with experience in coding, research, social media and more. Pilsen tech hub and incubator Blue1647 is hosting an event called Perfect Pitch: Essentials for Pitching and Public Speaking. Decode Chicago is taking place Thursday at 1871 where leaders from Allstate, McDonalds, App Annie and others will discuss trends in the app ecosystem. The event will help transform your plans for user acquisition, monetization, competitive analysis and more. More info here.

Augmented Reality Chicago is hosting a meetup Thursday at the Depaul University College of Computing and Digital Media and will include demonstrations, speaking, and networking. More info here.

The Chicago Product Management Association is holding an event called Saying 'No' to the CEO: Dealing with Distractions to Realize the Product Vision. A panel of product experts from companies like SpotHero, Jellyvision, BookedOut and HYLA Mobile will talk about dealing with distractions, diversions, and delays along the road to successfully converting product vision to reality.
