Tuesday

General Assembly is hosting an Introduction to the Chicago Data Community event on Tuesday. The meetup and panel discussion will get people acquainted with data roles in Chicago, and it will cover the key events, companies, people, current issues, and career paths in the industry. More info here.

Wednesday

The 2016 Chicago Innovation Awards Nominee Reception takes place Wednesday, and attendees will have the chance to mingle with this year's award nominees. Tickets are $35 and include drinks and appetizers. Featured entertainment for the night will be Ryan Goldsher, Chicago comedian and winner of Dana Carvey's new show "First Impressions." Venture Connects is hosting VC Access - For Entrepreneurs & Investors Wednesday at WeWork's Kenzie location. The casual networking event (no pitching) is for both entrepreneurs and investors. More info here.

Thursday

On Thursday General Assembly is hosting an event on The Future of Music and Technology. There will be a panel discussion with Chicago music experts, and attendees will learn about navigating the rapidly changing music industry and staying one step ahead of the curve. Topics covered will be music production, digital distribution, new revenue streams, and performance. More info here.

Village Capital Education US: 2016, AT&T Aspire, and WK Kellogg Foundation are hosting a Venture Forum Thursday at 1871 where attendees will meet 12 startups that are bridging the skills gap between education and employment. The top two program participants will receive $75,000 each. More info here.

Chicago Women in Machine Learning & Data Science are hosting a talk with Daphne Kao, a software engineer at Narrative Science. She'll be giving a talk titled: Intelligently Pluralizing Noun Phrases: A Case Study in Getting Algorithms to Learn English Language Quirks. More info here. More info here.
