Boston-based beauty company Follain has raised a $3 million equity round, announced via a Form D filed Monday.
The company – with locations in Nantucket, the South End, Beacon Hill and Washington D.C. – was founded by Tara Foley and opened its first local store in 2013. Focused on safe and sustainable skincare, hair care and cosmetic products, Follain offers a curated selection of more than 40 brands, all of which are made in the U.S.
The funding round lists three involved parties: Foley, the company's director, CEO and president; Edward McNamara, another director, treasurer and secretary; and Ben Fischman, director and chairman of the board. This is presumably the same Fischman who founded the Lids hat brand and the ecommerce apparel site Rue La La before going on to helm Boston-based designer shoe company M. Gemi.
I've reached out to Foley and will update this article when I hear back.
