Back in January, lunchtime options became brighter for Bostonians with the launch of MealPass - a startup that offers a network of downtown restaurants from which people can pick up lunch every weekday for $99 per month. It’s been such a hit over the past couple of months that the venture just disclosed that it’ll be expanding into another neighborhood.
Up until now, MealPass has been operating exclusively in Downtown Crossing and the Financial District. However, starting this week, subscribers will be able to snag lunches from more than 100 eateries in Back Bay.
According to Mary Biggins - the MealPass co-founder who previously helped launch ClassPass - her latest startup has already processed more than 10,000 lunch reservations in downtown Boston. (She declined to share the number of users or how often the average user reserves lunch through MealPass.)
“Consumers seem to really love the diversity of lunch options available in downtown Boston on MealPass,” she told me via email. “We've heard from customers that through MealPass they finally discovered amazing spots like Chicken & Rice Guys, Bonapita and Sa Pa, and tried meals they might not have considered ordering in the past... when you connect consumers with delicious food, I think it naturally creates a good experience!”
This week, MealPass is taking on more territory, so even more possibilities are opening up for its users. Subscribers will be able to grab their midday meals from Back Bay joints like Back Bay Sandwich, Freshii, Thai Basil, Samurai Express and so many more. And all for the same, affordable price as before.
