The Entrepreneurs’ Organization held its regional Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) competition for Boston this past month and it just announced its winner. The competition was stiff with the eight finalists representing prestigious schools like Dartmouth and Harvard, and the startup that came out victorious - Hanson Grant’s venture Think Board - hailed from Babson.
Think Board has developed clear whiteboard film that can easily adhere to any flat surface, be removed and reused. So people can write and draw wherever they like without creating any lasting damage to their apartment or office walls, furniture or appliances.
“I started Think Board from my dorm room at Babson," Grant said. "It solved a problem I had of needing space to write down business ideas and stay organized, but papers got lost, whiteboards were too bulky and dry erase paint was too expensive. I’ve been lucky to have so many resources at my fingertips here in Boston, and it’s a real honor to be named the regional GSEA winner.”
Now that Grant has won the regional GSEA competition, he’s headed down to Miami this week to see how Think Board competes against student startups from across the country. If his venture wins the top prize, he would receive $10,000 and be traveling to Bangkok, Thailand, where Think Board would go up against ventures run by students from around the world. The grand prize of that global competition? $20,000, resources and guidance provided by EO members and the title of “EO Student Entrepreneur of the Year.”
Grant is gearing up to bring Think Board glory, telling me, “I'll try to bring home the national title to Boston.”
