A Fitness Bootcamp So Good You'll Glow

Turnstyle Cycle is celebrating its new retail location at the South End's Ink Block with a rather unique offering: Boston's first ever glow in the dark fitness bootcamp. "We will soon have over 500 people living at Ink Block and our residents have been requesting a top-notch fitness option," said Ted Nye, managing partner of National Development. "Turnstyle complements our energetic mix of restaurants, retailers and Whole Foods Market that draws customers from all over the city." – Alex E. Weaver

The City of Boston Will Expand ParkBoston to All Neighborhoods By End of Summer

The City of Boston continues to roll out parking meters that allow parkers to feed their expiring meter remotely. The ParkBoston app is now live Back Bay, Fenway/Kenmore, Downtown, Beacon Hill, the North End, the West End and Charlestown. By the end of summer 2015, it will also be available in Allston, Brighton, Mission Hill, the South End and South Boston. It's all of these neighborhoods that are home to the city's approximately 8,000 parking meters.

According to the City of Boston, "Over the last month, there has been a steady increase in daily transactions through the app, from 3,000 per day in late June to over 4,000 per day by mid-July." – Nick DeLuca

Bridj Hires Former Spotify Engineer to Anchor Development Team

Pop-up bus service Bridj, which analyzes big data to determine efficient and non-traditional bus routes for passengers, hired Eli Daniel as its engineering head. Daniel had joined music streaming service Spotify in 2014 and is formerly of Endeca – a software company purchased by Oracle. Daniel will lead Bridj's two-man development team but it appears the company is looking to add upwards of five more in 2015. >>> BetaBoston

.406 Ventures Closes its Third Fund at $217M, Brings on HBS Alum

Earlier this month, .406 Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital firm investing in early-stage technology companies, closed its third fund at $217 million—over its initial target. Moreover, the firm is bringing Payal Agrawal Divakaran, a recent graduate of Harvard Business School and co-founder of SpotRocket, onto the investment team as a Senior Associate. Previously, Divakaran had worked in corporate development at Eventbrite and was also an associate at Spectrum Equity, where she sourced and executed deals in the software, information services, data/analytics, cybersecurity, and Internet segments. Divakaran received her BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT. Founded in 2005, .406 Ventures has approximately $600 million under management, and the team is made up of entrepreneurs-turned-investors. Its portfolio includes Bedrock Data, Bit9, CloudHealth Technologies and Veracode. – Rebecca Strong
