Boston Download: Streetwise & DailyBreak Cofounders Launch VENTUREAPP

Let's get right into it. Here's what you need to know to start your day ...

Streetwise & DailyBreak cofounders launch VENTUREAPP, aimed at empowering entrepreneurs

The app's out of the bag: Streetwise Media founders Chase Garbarino, Kevin McCarthy and Gregory Gomer are teaming up with DailyBreak founders Boris Revsin and Jared Stenquist to embark on a new endeavor: VENTUREAPP. The company is an invite-only concierge service that provides on-demand solutions for a startup’s most pressing challenges. That means helping with talent hunting, product, and other aspects as well as simplifying processes like finding insurance or accounting assistance. Already, the startup has raised a $2 million round of funding from Accomplice and Boston Seed as well as several angels. VENTUREAPP is currently working out of Accomplice’s East Cambridge office. Garbarino, Gomer, and McCarthy plan to stay involved with Streetwise Media as hands-on advisors, remaining active with content, event planning and product development. And down the road, VENTUREAPP is planning on partnering with Streetwise. — Rebecca Strong

USA! USA! USA! At City Hall Plaza

The United States is back in the World Cup semifinal, which is a familiar place for the women's team. While the men haven't been to the semifinals since the inaugural tournament in 1930, the women have never not made it to the penultimate stage. Facing them in Tuesday's game will be tournament favorite, Germany. As he has for the entirety of the knockout round, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is hosting a viewing party at City Hall Plaza. Show up before kickoff at 7 p.m. and enjoy watching the matchup of rivals. Boston's professional women's team, the Breakers, will once again be in attendance for the party as well. Boston 2024 released its revised plan – to lots more questions

Boston 2024 Olympic organizers unveiled the “2.0” bid on Monday, revealing an updated concept regarding not only the proposed plan for the Games, but also the before and after scenarios. The level of detail in the plan is impressive, but unfortunately for Boston 2024, it still lacks several key aspects. Because of this, the 2.0 plan (which 2024 chairman Steve Pagliuca was quick to point is far from the last bid version) will be defined more by what’s not in it than what is. >>> Read more on BostInno – Hayden Bird

Promising local tech startups just got a new Accomplice

When FKA (Formerly Known as Atlas) crowdsourced a new name for itself this spring, at least 16,000 ideas rolled in, some via their dedicated hashtag: #NameAVC. That should come as no surprise, given that the winner was promised a $50,000 reward investment in the new fund—half for him or herself, half to give to a TUGG nonprofit—for their idea. Finally, the Cambridge firm has settled on Accomplice. We spoke to a few local entrepreneurs on why this name is a fit—and also heard a few other top ideas that didn't make the cut. >>> Read more on BostInno – Rebecca Strong
