Intelligent.ly Is Launching a One-Day Workshop for High-Potential Tech Leaders

When Sarah Hodges and Dave Balter founded Intelligent.ly in 2012, they did so with a firm mission: empower the next generation of Boston startup leaders by delivering specialized skill classes. And over the past three years, the company has served more than 2,300 team members from more than 50 companies. In running a handful of exchange programs with a least 130 managers, they realized how hungry people are to learn. More specifically, it became clear that Boston tech professionals are eager to become more effective leaders on their teams and within their organizations. And that’s why Intelligent.ly decided to launch EMERGE: a one-day interactive workshop for individual contributors.

The workshop, which takes place July 22 at the Microsoft New England Research & Development (“NERD”) Center, will bring together more than 80 high-potential employees from fast-growing local tech companies like HubSpot, Smarterer and more.

“We believe EMERGE will be the tech equivalent of Patriots training camp—rigorous coaching from some of the best instructors in New England, combined with a chance to play alongside peers that will elevate your game," said Katie Burke, HubSpot Director of Talent and Culture, in a news release.

Through peer collaboration and hands-on exercises, attendees will hone in on a variety of skills—including how to give feedback effectively; establish and develop your personal leadership style; and increase your ability to influence as well as get buy-in for your ideas through storytelling. In addition, EMERGE will offer optional modules on topics like financial modeling, time management, and prioritization. Mike Troiano will give an afternoon fireside chat about the importance of positioning yourself for growth inside your company. And they’ll wrap up the day tby ransferring those skills they worked on all afternoon into presentations. Once the workshop is done, all will enjoy some cocktails at a networking social on the NERD Center patio.

When they leave, attendees will come away with a roadmap for continued growth, and a strong extended network they can lean on for continued support.

“When you’re working through problems together—that’s when you form relationships that are really long-lasting and meaningful,” Abbie Waite, Executive Director of Intelligent.ly, told BostInno in a phone interview.

Already, one-fourth of tickets for EMERGE—which costs $695 per person—have been pre-sold. But companies can still nominate their high-performers to participate in the one-day workshop until the remainder of the 80 to 100 seats have been filled.
