HBS Students Designed a Compact Selfie Stick for Your iPhone

More than 1 million selfies are snapped each day, and they now make up nearly one-third of all photos taken by people aged 18 to 24, according to research on Techinfographics.com. Clearly, this obsession is at an all-time high. In tandem, the selfie stick has surged in popularity as a way to achieve an optimal angle for the photo and take your best selfie.

But getting that perfect shot comes at a cost—and no, we’re not talking about the shame involved. Selfie sticks can be heavy, and that long pesky arm takes up half the shot—not to mention that it doesn’t fit easily in your bag. A group of Harvard Business School students, however, believes they've come up with a more convenient alternative: the Selfeezy, which collapses into your iPhone case.

Constructed at the Harvard Design Lab, the Selfeezy is lightweight and compact. The HBS team is currently 3D printing prototypes of the product from high-quality plastics, and assembling them in their workshop. Shortly after the Selfeezy went online, it sold out. But you can still pre-order one from the next batch for $29.99.

What distinguishes the Selfeezy, which includes both a case and an 18-inch stick, is that it slips easily into your pocket—meaning you can take it with you anywhere, any time.

Better yet, it acts as a two-in-one product: The embedded case protects your iPhone, preventing the back from getting scratched.
