Marketing Tech Startup Cintell Banks an $800K Seed Round

Understanding buyers' habits, preferences and behaviors is a crucial component of success for any company. That's what Cintell, a Boston marketing tech startup, is looking to provide—and now the company has $800,000 to expand its cloud-based customer intelligence platform.

The company announced Wednesday that the seed round of financing comes from angel investor and entrepreneur Venkat Janapareddy, whose startup Gozaik was acquired by Monster Worldwide. Cintell will use this funding to facilitate product development and user acquisition as well as to ramp up hiring efforts and grow out the team. The software-as-a-service startup just added several open positions in engineering and customer success. Meanwhile, Cintell has opened a new office in downtown Boston.

The firm just launched the private, invite-only beta for its Cintell platform, which will enable marketers to create live customer personas in the cloud and then share those insights companywide so that they may integrated into various business workflows and systems and used for decision-making across marketing, sales, and product development.

Cintell was founded by NetProspex alumni Apparao Karri and Katie Martell. Recently, the startup brought on CTO Shyam Vai — a data scientist with past experience leading engineering teams at Motorola, ViziApps Inc, and Redbox Instant by Verizon. Cintell has also added a number of advisors, including Marketing Advisory Network founder Samantha Stone and MarketingProfs chief content officer and best-selling author Ann Handley.
