Hiring in the Hub 11/07-11/13: Brightcove & Care.com's Big CFO News

Boston's business elite has been busy this past week. Catch up on who's going where below:

Kevin Rhodes (photographed right) will be joining online video platform Brightcove as its executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective December 1. Earlier this year, Chris Stagno, Brightcove's chief accounting officer, was named interim CFO. With Rhodes on board, Stagno will return to his primary role. Rhodes comes to Brightcove from PlumChoice, where he served as EVP and CFO for more than five years.

Sungage Financial, a marketplace that provides homeowners with online access to low-cost solar financing, named Jeff Zissulis its vice president of channel sales. Zissulis previously worked as SunPower's regional sales manager in the Northeast, and will bring that solar sales experience with him to attract new partners to Sungage and expand its business to new markets.

Skills assessment company Smarterer announced the addition of James Newman (photographed left), the former director of sales at Cornerstone OnDemand. In his role as Smarterer's vice president of sales, Newman will be responsible for spearheading the expansion of the company's enterprise capability management platform, Flock.

Shared Sarah Hodges, Smarterer's VP of marketing and strategy, in a statement:

James has spent the last several years deeply embedded in the learning and development industry. We're thrilled to be able to draw on his experience, and his leadership will be instrumental in enabling Smarterer to help Fortune 500 companies change as fast as their industries.

Yottaa, a provider of automated Application Optimization solutions for the enterprise, announced that John McMahon has joined its board of directors. McMahon has held senior management positions at Cisco and BladeLogic, which was acquired by BMC Software in 2008 for approximately $800 million. McMahon previously served as the senior vice president of worldwide sales and services for BMC Software, and will use his experience to help Yottaa scale.

VC firm Data Point Capital shared news on an advisor of its own: Colin Angle, co-founder, CEO and chairman of iRobot. He will join the organization as a "special advisor" and provide the firm's portfolio companies with leadership and management expertise.

Vincent De Gennaro (photographed right), former vice president at Actuate, has joined data management and analytics software company Lavastorm Analytics. He has assumed the position of vice president of enterprise sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. De Gennaro will be responsible for expanding the company within those regions, as well as refining Lavastorm's overall sales and business development strategy.

The City of Boston has appointed Harvard Business School grad Lauren Lockwood, the current product manager at consulting startup HourlyNerd, its chief digital officer. (More on that here.)

Care.com Chief Financial Officer John Leahy is leaving the online destination for finding and managing family care less than a year after its IPO. He is stepping down "to pursue another opportunity," and Care.com's former CFO Steve Boulanger has returned to the management team as the interim CFO, while the company searches for a permanent candidate.

In other Care.com CFO news: The company announced that Ian Duncan Robertson, most recently the CFO at OpenTable, has joined its board of directors. Robertson will also serve as chairman of the board's audit committee.

In higher education news: Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will be helping Harvard hire additional computer science faculty. The wealthy alumnus has donated an estimated $60 million to Harvard to expand its School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. (More on that news here.)
