These Ten 50 on Fire Nominees Show Why Boston is a Healthcare Hotbed

Healthcare has started receiving a dose of disruption, and Boston is no stranger to administering it. 

Between the city's world-class hospitals, top tier colleges and up-and-coming startups, Boston has long been known as a hotbed for healthcare — a hotbed BostInno annually celebrates at 50 on Fire.

The third annual event, scheduled for December 4, will be bringing together the best in Boston; or rather, the companies and individuals making a mark on one of nine industries: Marketing & Advertising, Media, Technology, Design, Dining & Retail, Sports & Fitness, Education, Arts & Entertainment, and, of course, Medicine & Healthcare.

From a biophysicist who's helped amputees dance again to a company that recently raised $40 million to accelerate its treatment of type 2 diabetes, the nominees that have already started pouring in prove Boston knows how to hack healthcare.
