Meet the 6 New Startups That Will Be Moving into PayPal's Start Tank

Come Monday, six new early-stage startups will have been welcomed into PayPal's Start Tank.

PayPal shared the latest crop of companies on Thursday, according to BetaBoston. Each startup will receive six months' worth of free workspace in the Downtown Boston incubator, as well as access to angel investors, VCs and the expertise of PayPal's employees.

Fourteen startups moved into the space in February, and have already starting seeing success: Fashion e-marketplace Nineteenth Amendment recently brought on Kayak Founder Paul English as an investor; onthebar rolled out iBeacons in 75 Boston bars; and mobile, on-site optometry startup Project 2020 raised $1.2 million.

PayPal Program Manager Karen Landry Cairone, who helps run Start Tank, spoke to alumni of the program, as well. Manicube was readying for its Boston launch when the in-office manicure startup joined Start Tank. The company has since raised $5 million and is expanding to four new cities. Shared Landry Cairone:

That start of a new wave is always really exciting for us. As our selection process has become more competitive, we expect to see some really interesting things from the new companies. All of them have great potential. Watching the evolution of companies during the time they spend in the Start Tank is incredible. ... We are looking forward to digging in, getting to know all the new teams and seeing where they go!

Start Tank has been making moves itself. PayPal announced this summer that the co-working space would be going global and expanding into London and Chennai, India. At the time of the news, PayPal Media Network COO and Start Tank Co-founder David Chang said the new programs would usher in their first "waves" of early-stage, pre-funded companies in coordination with the Boston Start Tank's fourth wave this fall.

Here is an early look at that fourth wave, courtesy of PayPal:
