Office space along the MBTA’s Red Line is tough to come by, but coworking space NGIN wants to be the solution for startups sprouting up in the Boston-area...and around the globe.
NGIN, which opened in February, wants its collaborative digs to have international reach. Though the Cambridge spot is its first, the coworking space eventually wants to grow into other locations, building a network for its companies that spans the world. And considering the diverse flair of Cambridge, a 15,000-square-foot space in Kendall Square seems like an ideal place to start.
The airy workspace currently sits 70 or so people, but it can fit up to 165. The office boasts 17 private, soundproof offices, which teams can rent out and rearrange to fit their needs. A bevy of reservable meeting rooms line the perimeter of the space, and bear the names of wonders from around the world, like Machu Picchu, the Colosseum and the Taj Mahal. Plush purple chairs pepper the space to create casual work areas, while locally made wooden lockers give NGIN members a place to store their personal items securely when they’re out and about. To ease the financial burden on fledgling startups, NGIN also keeps a stocked fridge full of snacks and drinks and a bottomless supply of coffee for its members.
So far, NGIN’s member community is made up of 15 nationalities. To spread the international spirit of the space even more, NGIN also hosts mixers every third Wednesday, open to the public, featuring free food from a different region of the world. Did we mention the food is free?
