Lookout to Bring Up to 50 New Jobs to Boston with New Technology Development Center

Lookout

Boston's next innovation hub is about to be welcoming in a new neighbor. Mobile security leader Lookout announced Tuesday the company will be opening a Technology Development Center in the Financial District, as a means of tapping in to New England's talent pool.

The news comes on the heels of Lookout banking a $150 million late-stage financing round, led by T. Rowe Price Associates. The funding brought Lookout's total amount raised to $282 million, and will be used to help the company develop new products, as well as hire the team necessary to do so.

Lookout, headquartered in San Francisco, is expected to move into a 16,000-square-foot facility in Boston. With the expansion, the team will be hiring up to 50 people in engineering, sales and marketing over the next 12 to 18 months.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, clearly in favor of the new job opportunities, welcomed Lookout in a statement, saying:

The academic roots of our city help attract the best and the brightest and I am committed to creating an environment where these innovative minds can thrive well after graduation. The fact that companies like Lookout are setting up shop here is a testament to the success of our efforts to make Boston a truly attractive place for young technology companies to prosper. With that, I welcome Lookout to Boston.

Boston represents Lookout's fourth office, and will help the company cover both coasts. Lookout has also opened facilities in London and Tokyo, and currently employs roughly 250 people, who are serving more than 50 million users worldwide.

"We're thrilled to announce that Lookout will be opening its newest office in Boston,” said Lookout CEO and Boston native Jim Dolce in a statement. “This dynamic city, centrally located in the Northeast, is an ideal location to source talented employees and connect with sales prospects in the financial services and healthcare industries.”

Think you could be one of those "talented employees?" The mobile security company is hiring.
