Boston-based social gratitude journaling app Happier has added $2 million in funding and a chief marketing officer to pursue its goal of making people, well, happier through social media, according to BetaBoston.
The optimistic site empowers its 500,000-and-growing members to share the happy moments in life, which the company hopes will create a positive environment to keep every user happy and healthy. Recently, the startup has begun monetizing with paid self-help guides, covering topics like meditation, gratitude and yoga, on its mobile platform.

Happier brought on Michelle Burtchell, the former senior director of marketing at Constant Contract, to the team in June as the company's first CMO. The company has increased their staff size to a total of 12 from eight earlier this year.
The $2 million in funding was added in May from existing investors Venrock and Resolute.VC, taking its total capital raised to $4.4 million.
