Care.com Secures Larger HQ & Plans to Be Parents' De-Facto Online Resource

Public caregiver marketplace company Care.com is on the move. Just a month after scooping up West Coast subscription package startup Citrus Lane, the Waltham, Mass.-based firm will relocate to a new headquarters twice the size of its current space, according to a July 28 filing.

Starting next spring, Care.com will lease three floors, and around 108,700 square feet, at 77 4th Avenue in Waltham, over the course of 10 years. To put that in perspective, the firm’s current digs at 201 Jones Road comprises 54,000 square feet.

According to the filing, Care.com had 336 full-time employees and 219 part-time. But from the specs of the new headquarters, it seems like the the company has serious internal growth in the works.

Fortunately, the firm has favorable second quarter revenues to help further its scale. Care.com reported last week reveneus of $25.8 million, up 35 percent from the same period in 2013, which were generally in line with analysts’ predictions. The company saw member numbers hit 11.8 million, with 44 percent growth from Q2 2013.

Care.com also announced the launch of its Big Tent mobile app, a result of the company’s acquisition of the startup last year and a part of its “Care.com Everyday” strategy to build community with parents on the go.
