Alcohol delivery app Drizly is on the move again. The startup announced Wednesday it has expanded into craft brew capital Denver, Colorado.
Powered by a partnership with Colorado’s Argonaut Liquor, the company offers Denverites a choice of more than 3,000 vino, beer and spirits straight from their smartphone, which Drizly promises to deliver between 20 to 40 minutes.
The Mile High City marks Drizly’s fifth major location. Others include New York City, including Brooklyn and the Hamptons, Chicago, Los Angeles, and, naturally, Boston and Cambridge.
The company also began delivering beer, wine and liquor on-demand via its mobile app to three suburbs in the Hub – Wayland, Weston and Wellesley – a few weeks ago.
According to our sister site InTheCapital, the company is planning to get operations established in Washington D.C. next. The expansion will likely happen before the year's end, said Nick Rellas, Drizly co-founder and CEO.
Even with competitors like Postmates pushing into the market, Drizly, started by a few Boston College graduates, is ripping sales this summer. And it has the numbers to prove it. The $4.8 million-funded startup had a record-breaking Fourth of July week, and saw an 83 percent lift in beer sales from June 30th until July 6th. But here’s a better question … what libations are Boston tech CEOs – including Drizly’s Rellas – sipping on this summer?
