Postmates is Dishing Out Free, Fancy Pints of Ice Cream On Demand All Weekend Long

Who loves free ice cream? Bostonians love free ice cream. And Postmates knows that, and plans to deliver. Literally. The on-demand delivery app will be doling out free pints of the cold, sugary stuff from now until midnight on Sunday, June 20th, which just so happens to be National Ice Cream Day.

Did we mention they’re free?

The startup launched in Boston but a few weeks ago with the promise of 24/7 pick up and delivery of any and all items. Whether it's booze or dry cleaning, groceries or, well, ice cream, the app has you covered.

The startup isn’t giving away boring batches of freeze-dried strawberry, either (sorry all strawberry ice cream-lovers out there, but you’re wrong). Postmates is promising pints of Haagen-Dasz and Ben & Jerry’s, and potentially a local ice creamery, too.

As far as the flavors go, you can choose chocolate, vanilla or "Postmates Pick" for a surprise flavor. “Users can find the Free Ice Cream On-Demand store in the app to request a pint for delivery. There is no delivery fee either so the entire order is free,” said the company in a statement.

The California startup’s delivery zone will span Cambridge, Downtown Boston, the Back Bay, North End, South End and South Boston. But there’s more coming soon; Postmates stated at its launch that it plans on expanding to other local neighborhoods soon.

Considering Postmates offered free lobster rolls for its launch earlier this month, it looks like the startup is into giving out food gratuit … and it also looks like our bellies are rumbling, so we’re not complaining.
