Crashlytics Reveals 'Answers' to Do All The Dirty Mobile Analytics For You

Twitter-owned Crashlytics unveiled on Tuesday its latest project. Answers by Crashlytics, billed as “mobile analytics you don’t need to analyze,” is the newest – and free – addition to the Boston-born company’s lineup.

Answers, which is built into Crashlytics’ existing SDK, is designed to streamline the process of revealing what’s driving an app’s growth, taking into account real-time data and turning that into actionable insights about user behavior. Crashlytics claims that no extra code changes are necessary to put the new product into action and start receiving key retention metrics and usage information.

“Since then, we’ve seen a need for powerful tools across other areas of app development — and we knew that we could apply the same design principles to meet the many challenges faced by today’s mobile app developers,” said Crashlytics product manager Brain Swift in a statement. “With Answers by Crashlytics, along with our award-winning crash reporting tool and Beta by Crashlytics, developers now have access to a powerful, lightweight suite of products to help them not only build, but also grow great apps.”

Answers is able to tell a team why there’s a spike in app activity, as well as show how many users are engaging with an app at any given moment in real-time, as featured above, and churn out long-term user retention statistics. Within minutes after its enabled, Answers quickly picks up on an app’s behavior and begins to deliver live data.

Crashlytics tested Answers in a beta with BuzzFeed and Hootsuite, as well as Boston-based fitness tracking app, RunKeeper, prior to Tuesday’s debut.

Answers is the third new product Crashlytics has rolled out in the past six months. In February, the team revealed a beta app testing platform; a few months later, in May, the Twitter company expanded its crash reporting solution to OS X.
