Ahoy, Captain! 'Pier-to-Pier' Marketplace Boatbound Launches in Boston

The water is calling, Boston. And no, we don’t mean the mean the rain pummeling the Hub and ruining our Independence Day picnics. And for those without paddles, sails or motors, here’s a bit of good news: Boat rental marketplace Boatbound just launched in Boston this week to make playing captain more accessible.

Started in 2012, the California-born company bills itself as a “pier-to-pier” marketplace. Boatbound’s communities are live in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Miami, Austin, Chicago, and now Boston. Not only does Boatbound allow people to get a taste of what it calls “Ahoy! culture,” but it also enables over 13 million registered boat owners to offset their ownership costs by renting their boats to “pre-screened, qualified renters looking to create new on-the-water experiences.”

It’s no secret that the Boston-area boasts an enthusiastic boating community. Not to mention that we have both salt and fresh water arenas on which to voyage. Whether you’re looking to go fishing, laze out with a twelve pack, whip friends around on a tube or sail the seas around Boston, Boatbound has the craft that can get you there. The company claims that there are currently 53 boats being stored in the city and the suburbs up for grabs, and an additional 16 in Cape Cod.

To make the local launch even sweeter for BostInno readers, Boatbound is offering $50 off a rental made via its marketplace. Use the code “landlubber” to save, and put the dough towards a nautical-themed pashmina afghan ...
