Started in 2012, the California-born company bills itself as a “pier-to-pier” marketplace. Boatbound’s communities are live in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Miami, Austin, Chicago, and now Boston. Not only does Boatbound allow people to get a taste of what it calls “Ahoy! culture,” but it also enables over 13 million registered boat owners to offset their ownership costs by renting their boats to “pre-screened, qualified renters looking to create new on-the-water experiences.”
It’s no secret that the Boston-area boasts an enthusiastic boating community. Not to mention that we have both salt and fresh water arenas on which to voyage. Whether you’re looking to go fishing, laze out with a twelve pack, whip friends around on a tube or sail the seas around Boston, Boatbound has the craft that can get you there. The company claims that there are currently 53 boats being stored in the city and the suburbs up for grabs, and an additional 16 in Cape Cod.
