A new startup, based in Waltham, Mass., wants to bring business to local merchants by offering a fresh take on the typical daily deal.
SaveDaylee launched in June to help consumers "save more" and "save often," without taking a cut from its partner companies. What the website provides are recurring daily deals a customer can freely claim, print out and redeem by walking through the doors of a store or business.
The startup is focused on offering free advertising to the small businesses that need it the most. Merchants are actually able to post an offer to the SaveDaylee site without a fee, and watch while members redeem the offer — "no credit cards, no splits, no transactions."
Although the service sounds too good to be true, SaveDaylee claims there's no catch. The team simply wants to see new business through local merchants' doors.
As pointed out by the Boston Business Journal, unlike Groupon, there are no time constraints. Customers aren't forced to stare at the days and hours counting down until a deal expires, since each coupon is recurring. Roughly 30 merchants have signed on to provide daily coupons, including Allston's Art School 99, which is offering 50 percent off an art workshop for two, and Waltham's Synergy, which is giving customers $100 off a small group or one-on-one personal training.
Most recently, SaveDaylee partnered with on-demand car service Uber to offer $30 off a customer's first ride.
As the company's Co-founder and COO Steve Tokatlyan told the Boston Business Journal: "Our goal is to be a better, long-term version of a daily deal site, by offering an affordable tool to our merchants and information to our consumers that is useful."
And, if all goes according to plan, the company will be offering up to 200 recurring daily coupons by the end of the year.
