Hiring in the Hub 6/13-6/19: HourlyNerd's New CMO & Skyword Promotions

Boston's business elite has been busy this past week. Catch up on who's going where below:

Harvard Business School-spun startup HourlyNerd announced this week it has brought a new CMO on board. Formerly of Nanigans and HubSpot, Dan Slagen will head up the talent marketplace company’s marketing efforts. This is a big move for the young company, which has already been able to connect 3,000 businesses with 6,000 students and graduates who hail from prominent business schools like Stanford, Tuck and Wharton.

“Dan has the perfect combination of strategic instinct and execution orientation to hit the ground running as a leader at HourlyNerd,” said Rob Biederman, CEO and co-founder of the startup.

Framingham, Mass.-based anomaly detection company Prelert just added machine learning expert Tommi Jaakkola to its team of advisors. Jaakkola is a professor at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab.

“Companies are increasingly receptive to the idea that in order to be successful they need to garner value from the data they’re collecting – and understand that automated tools are necessary to analyze it,” shared Jaakkola in a statement. “It is an exciting time for Prelert. The company’s technology is perfectly positioned to help companies analyze and understand that data.”

Boston content marketing startup Skyword appointed Dan Baptiste and John Shea as vice president of brand partnerships and vice president of partner development, respectively. Prior to the promotion, both men served as sales directors for the company. Shea previously served at Rimm-Kaufman and Google, whereas Baptiste worked at CBS Radio and Citadel Broadcasting.

If you’re hunting for a new gig, perhaps its time to pay CloudHealth Technologies a visit. The Boston-based cloud analytics software-as-a-service company is planning to take its 22-person headcount to 30 in the next year. Considering CloudHealth's recent $3.2 million round of funding, it looks like the startup has will have the budget to do so.
